GEN Z SLANG TERMS

My final project for the motion graphics course, I wanted to focus on building my skills with Cinema 4D in both 3D modeling and animation. I was inspired by 3D animated poster designs where the designs are unique, fun expressions of displaying the messages to the viewers. I decided that for the theme, I would focus on doing gen z slang terms, specifically to the popular phrases, “Spill the Tea,” “Sus,” and “Womp Womp.” It’s a creative, silly theme that I thought would be intriguing in exploring when it comes to 3D animated posters, including with how can I express the meaning of these phrases through design elements such as colors and animation style.

I utilized the adobe font, droog as I believe it illustrated the amusement these phrases represented in today’s world with generation z on social media. The first poster design, “Spill the Tea,” remained white to fit with the overall background design. However, for the other two poster designs, I experimented with applying a gradient material with colors consistent of yellows, blues, and purples for a vibrant, exciting feeling to be depicted in the designs. I animated each model in different loops where I had the “Spill the Tea” to rotate, the “Sus” model to spin around, and the “Womp Womp” model to zoom out and zoom back in. These animation styles were best suited to their meanings behind the phrases and to convey that creatively. I imported the 3D model animations in Adobe After effects with the background assets I created to compile for their final animations. For the background assets, I designed geometric elements in Adobe Illustrator for the geometric background shapes and text. I imported the assets in Adobe After Effects where I animated the text for each poster design to do a loop in different directions repetitively.
